6 -7 June 2023, Rome, Italy – On the occasion of the 49th Meeting of the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), held on 6 June, in Rome, H.E. Mr. Enaam Mayara, PAM President, and President of the House of Councillors of the Kingdom of Morocco, paid visits to high-level representatives of the Italian Parliament and Government.
On 6 June, President Mayara met with H.E. Hon. Lorenzo Fontana, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, and with H.E. Mr. Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy.
On 7 June, PAM President Mayara visited H.E. Sen. Ignazio La Russa, President of the Italian Senate.
Discussions focused on common challenges to regional security and stability, and on parliamentary diplomacy as one of the most effective instruments to address them, working towards peace and prosperity. Namely, illegal migration flows, climate change and environmental degradation, energy transition to renewable sources, political and security crisis in Europe and the MENA region.
The meetings proved to be very fruitful to further advance the already excellent cooperation between PAM and Italy, and a number of concrete actions were identified for joint implementation.//
