It is crucial to ensure that national legislative frameworks provide for sufficient safeguards against the threat of terrorism.

The threat posed by terrorism and transnational organized crime in the Euro-Mediterranean and Gulf regions is a key priority addressed by the political-security dimension of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM).

Since its inception, PAM has been committed to fight terrorism (including violent extremism, radicalization and hate speech) in all its forms and manifestations. In recent years, terrorist and transnational organized crime threats in the PAM region have grown dramatically, and PAM’s approach has equally evolved to effectively monitor and face the phenomenon, both from a political and a legislative – law enforcement point of view.
