PAM denounces a failed cyberattack launched against it on 20 May. The Russian hackers collective Killnet has claimed the responsibility for the 48-hour attack, which involved also around 50 other targets based in Italy, including websites of ministries, private companies, media, and judicial bodies.

Starting from 07:00 a.m., PAM’s security mechanisms intercepted and neutralized some 30,000 cyberattacks against its IT systems.

The hackers were tracked back to the Russian Federation (90%) and China (10%).

The failed cyberattack has been duly reported to the competent police authorities, which opened an investigation into this criminal action.

The failed attack is yet another occasion for PAM to recall, in the respect of the UN Charter and on the basis of the relevant UN Resolutions:

  • the strongest condemnation of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
  • its support for the International criminal Court’s enquiry on war crimes being committed against civilians in Ukraine.
  • its support for the World Leaders' statement in obtaining a ceasefire and the withdrawal of all Russian military and armed elements from the territory of Ukraine.
  • its efforts to mitigate the economic impact of and the global food shortage resulting from the Russian invasion, which is mainly affecting the most vulnerable PAM countries.
  • its request for the absolute respect of the territorial integrity, sovereignty, freedom and the democratically elected Government of Ukraine.
