PAM attends the official presentation of the OME “Mediterranean Energy Perspectives 2022”  Report

20 March 2023, Milan, Italy – PAM attended the presentation of the  Report on the “Mediterranean Energy Perspectives 2022”, organized by OME (Observatoire Méditerranéen de l’Energie) and the World Energy Council of Italy (WEC), in collaboration with Edison. Hon. Gennaro Migliore (Italy), PAM President Emeritus, represented the Assembly at the “Mediterranean Dialogue” session.

 

The event represented an excellent opportunity for PAM to review, together with high institutional representatives, international organizations and stakeholders from the national and international energy sector, the most urgent issues related to regional energy security and green transition goals.

 

In his address, Hon. Migliore recalled that the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine dramatically affected the energy  and food markets, which resulted in an unprecedented food security and energy crisis.

 

Hon. Migliore emphasized that energy is the instrument through which long-term political partnerships can be achieved. In this context, he recalled that PAM working at promoting the establishment of a Parliamentary Energy Community for the Euro-Mediterranean and the Gulf which is intended to foster energy security and affordability,  and accelerate the regions’ energy transition. The structure and modus operandi of the Community will be presented on the occasion of the second edition of the PAM Economic Forum, to be held in Marrakesh in December 2023.//
