PAM and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe share objectives on euro-Mediterranean sustainable development
The Conference discussed, among other themes of interest to PAM, the challenges for national parliaments in respect to representative democracy and their role within the context of the Arab revolutions.  Another topic was the future of the European Court of Human Rights.

PAM Secretary General held a number of bilateral meetings with the Presidents of PAM member parliaments, with whom the forthcoming VII PAM Plenary Session in Malta (12-13 October, 2012) was discussed, also in view of the election of the new PAM President for the next biennium.

With the President of the Swiss Parliament, cooperation and preparations for the forthcoming PAM meeting on Constitutional Reform in Bosnia Herzegovina, to be held in Rome, Italy, in November, were discussed.
PACE was among the participants at the high level parliamentary hearing, Energy Challenges in the Euro-Mediterranean Region, organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), in conjunction with the House of Councilors, under the patronage of H.M. Mohammed VI, King of Morocco, held in Ouarzazate, on 14-15 September, 2012. //
