PAM 3rd Standing Committee holds meeting in Lisbon

Migration, gender and equality issues, and dialogue of cultures and religions will be the issues discussed within the framework of the 3rd Standing Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), meeting today in Lisbon at the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal.
Parliamentarians from 15 Mediterranean countries will be endorsing reports and resolutions on the topics debated during the session. The final versions of these reports and resolutions will be presented in October to the Plenary Session of the Assembly, which will be held in Istanbul.
The Standing Committee will also be addressed by Mr. Basilio Horta of Portugal, President of AICEP (Business Development Agency), and Mr. Christophe Lecourtier of France, Director General of UBI France (French Agency for International Business Development).
The meeting will come to an end with the proposals for the 2009 PAM Prize candidates. The first PAM Prize was awarded in 2008 to Mr. Philippe Bender, conductor and artistic director of the Cannes-Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Regional Orchestra, for his contribution to the promotion of dialogue between the cultures of the region through his work with the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.
